Will measure approx. 36" wide × 40" or desired length.

#7 or #8 needles*, 1 lb. any worsted yarn, such as Pound of Love.

Cast on 164 sts. If wider blanket is wanted, add increments of 20 sts.

Work garter stitch for 7 ridges (14 rows).

Keep 7 sts in garter st. for borders on left and right.

Basket pattern:

Row 1; K 7 for border, K 10, P 10, K 10, across, ending with K 10. K 7 for garter stitch border

Row 2: K 7 for border, P 10, K 10, P 10, across, ending with P 10. K 7 for border

Work these two rows until there are 14 rows (not counting border)   

Reverse pattern as follows:

Work as for Row 2.

Work as for Row 1.

After 14 rows, reverse pattern again. Work for a total of 16 repeats, or more if desired.  End with 7 more ridges in garter stitch.

*Use either straight or circular needles (with cable). Worked back and forth.
